Yet another game I revisited! I did the initial balancing for the game, but later on took over design responsibilities when we wanted to spruce it up.
We wanted to add some new features, so we created mini versions of the customers that walk around and upgrades for your shop. Players now have control over whether they can move faster, breed plants faster, have more pedestals, and so on. It gives the player more motivation and agency in their experience.
One aspect we completely re-did was how you fulfill orders. There needed to be a way for them to easily see the order they're working on and choose which plants to give the customer. While it still could be better, we made incredible improvements and the game flows much smoother.
A Lesson Learned...
Tutorials should be quick and clear. We retouched the tutorial in this game, but it still has a couple of weird issues. Players need to get to the actual game as fast as possible or you'll lose them before they get a chance to try it.
