Practice using fractions by slicing oddly-shaped blocks into smaller pieces. Manipulate them and use special blocks and abilities to your advantage in this engrossing, yet simple, game. Learn more!
Hoo boy, where to even start with this game? Probably the coolest part is that it didn't look like this at all when it was first made. Our star engineer, Alex Beachesne, greatly improved the game and turned it into a full experience beyond what it used to be (read more here!)
In the beginning, this game was just basic block slicing. You swipe to divide a block and tap to select pieces, making sure that the pieces are equal to the denominator of the fraction you're given. The game was called Satisfraction, and it was the result of a whole group of us coming together to brainstorm a small interactive game that helped teach one teeny topic.
It used to lack depth and juice. There were no special blocks, no changes as you played, and players weren't motivated to earn or achieve anything. Those are all elements that exist in the game now, and it's clear that those changes added up to turn it into a worthy puzzle game.
A Lesson Learned...
The design process for the first version of the game was insane. Somehow it became a company-wide jam and we had maybe 15 people around a big table. How did that even happen? It turned into a classic too-many-cooks situation in every way. It just didn't work out great and since then I advocate for keeping those kinds of jams small until an idea is further along and more people = more value.
