Filament Games played a helping hand in this project. We worked on a few of the minigames and helped to get things implemented in the game.
One game I worked on was a tracing game. It's a super simple interaction but required a solid system for identifying whether a child correctly traced all the lines in the image. We ended up with a excellent design for this that was able to tell how close the child got and handle all sorts of whacky edge cases.
I also tackled some flow issues with a painting game where the player takes turns painting with other characters. This was to help the child practice sharing. We pored over flowcharts to create the perfect sharing experience where the player could choose to share their paintbrush, yet still be steered away from not sharing.
A Lesson Learned...
One production issue was that the final art assets had already been created for most of the games we were to design and program, so it limited us in terms of changes we could make. Luckily everything worked out, but it was a massive risk where the games could've ended up requiring different art to work.
