YOU MAKE ME SICK
Design a custom bacteria or virus that will infect different host victims. Plant your pathogen in their vicinity, invade their body, and replicate to give them a sickness. Learn more!
This is another Filament game that I dove into a while after it was officially finished production. We did a rebalance and corrected some of the interfaces. There is so much going on in this game that we still didn't get to touch on everything we wanted to.
The game takes a unique approach on teaching players how they can get sick and prevent sickness. Instead of playing the human, they play the pathogen. Hosts who wash their hands a lot are harder to infect than ones who have a weakened immune system.
The art is amazing. When I watched young children play, they squealed and ewww-ed at watching the pathogens float up through a host's gigantic mouth, a lint-covered sucker that was on the floor, and tiny viruses replicating in the lungs. The visuals of the game really translate the learning.
A Lesson Learned...
The hosts sort of randomly walk around their space and may or may not interact with the objects the player has put their pathogen on. We created a mechanic that helps the player draw the hosts attention to different parts of the space. This helps balance out the random behavior so the player has agency.
